By Kristian Bertel. Depictions of the dangerous night traffic in the streets of Bikaner, India: Pedestrians crossing traffic road with high risk!
With their lives and without thinking of the danger, many people cross the busy NH 15 road in Bikaner. With lack of adequate street lighting it is difficult for motorists to see what is coming in front of them.
In the dark and dusty night sky, cyclists are travelling on moderate and ram-shackled cycles without any lights.

“The death toll in India caused by traffic accidents
is estimated to 14 people per hour.”

With over 130,000 deaths annually, the country of India has overtaken China and now has the worst road traffic accident rate worldwide. Most of the accidents are caused by human errors. This photo from Bikaner, Rajasthan in north-west India, is a part of a series of Indian images published online. The photos depict the daily life in India, often captured in portraits.
